Happy Birthday Mark!!

Mark turned 31 on Sunday- woohoo! On Friday we had a mini celebration- just Mark and I (my mom watched Jackson)... we went out to dinner and a movie at the $1 theater (just a side note, don't waste your money on The Day the Earth Stood Still... who would have seen that coming with a title like that and Keanu Reeves as the lead actor?). Then on Saturday we went to Rodizios (an all you can eat Brazilian steakhouse:)- Mark's FAVORITE!!). It is a requirement that when we go there I have to say yes to all meat (especially sirloin)... even when I'm full... so he can eat it all (he even got my mom in on it this time). Then we went over to my mom's for cake- yummy! On Sunday it was more low key- I made his favorite meal of mine chicken tacos (recipe from my old roommate Allison:))... really, how many meals does he have to choose from that I can actually make?? Then he had his slice of cake from Rodizios that we got for free for his birthday. He decided he didn't want me to get him an ice cream cake since he already had cake on Saturday (he is trying to be more healthy and didn't want to end up eating the entire ice cream cake).

Say What?

- While watching Caillou (a PBS show) play with his grandma I pointed out to Jackson that he has a grandma too. Later, at the end of the show Caillou's mom comes to pick him up and he shouts "Mommy!" Jackson then looks over at me and says, "I have a mommy too!" and gives me a BIG hug. Hearing him say that is one of the best feelings in the world... I love being a mom.
- Lately when I ask Jackson to throw something away... he takes it literally. He stands a couple of feet from the trash can and throws said item away. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries, but eventually it does end up in the trash.
-Mark was watching a game of football on TV and Jackson was trying to get his attention. Frustrated that he wasn't succeeding, he gave a big sigh, looked over at the TV, ran over and turned it off. Jackson, I know how you feel:).
-Sitting down for lunch at the table one day (something that doesn't always occur since I usually don't eat lunch until he's napping), Jackson picked up his fork, looked at me with a smile and said, "SOOOOOO....".
I think he picked it up from when we all sit down for dinner and Mark and I say, "SO, how was your day?"
-After getting ready one morning:
Mark (to me): Hey sexy!
Jackson (sitting next to Mark): Hey sexy! (although it sounded more like, "Hey sessy")

-Mark: "Whatchya thinking about Jackson?" (after seeing Jacks zoning out in his car seat)
Jackson: "BYU"
-The day before Mark was pointing to my mom and Robert's UTE (U of U) ornament on their tree and while pointing his thumb down said, "BOOOO!!" The next day as part of Jackson's birthday gift my mom and Robert thought it would be funny to give him a Ute toddler basketball... after playing with the basketball for a little bit, Jackson pointed to the Ute logo and while motioning his thumb down shouted, "BOOOOOO!!" Yep. We've trained him well (particularly his dad).
-During nursery at church a leader asked a 2 year old little girl in our class, "Are you hungry?"
Her response: "My body is hungry."
