Jackson's Mom

Today I received a phone call asking if I was Jackson's mom (it was the Dr.'s office)... for most mom's out there with several children I would imagine that someone calling you your child's mother probably doesn't take you off guard... but I kind of paused for a second before saying with a huge, proud smile... Yes... I am Jackson's mom:). I know this is something SO little and eventually I probably won't even think about it... but it just caused me to reflect this morning that I am actually someone's mom now and couldn't be prouder of my little 4 month old and that I get to be his lucky mother!:)

Diaper Rash:(

Poor Jackson has a really bad diaper rash... so today I laid him on a couple of blankets I didn't care about too much and put a cloth diaper loosely around him. However, he is starting to move around a lot so the diaper soon was not under him anymore and as I looked up from the kitchen sink I see pee going straight up into the air and onto his face. Poor guy... he didn't know what hit him... just sat there with a very confused look on his face. After that, I put a "real" diaper back on and slathered on a bunch of Desitin.

California Love

Ginger's boyfriend, Michael is a DJ... and apparently Jackson is now too!:) This is the CUTEST picture by far of that morning!

Sadly, California whether wasn't as warm and sunny as it usually is... so we bundled up Jackson for a walk around RSM Lake.

Jackson's already a ladies man... look at him charming the ladies!

Eating the yummy meal prepared by Ging and Michael... what great hosts!!

The 4 of us together again!!

I went back to my hometown of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA for Easter. I got to see a lot of my family and my amazing high school tennis friends... it was SO much fun! I don't have any pictures of my family yet since most were taken with my grandparents camera... I still need to get the pictures. However, I do have a lot of pictures of the times I spent with my friends and of them giving lots of love to Jacks:). Ginger's boyfriend, Michael was kind enough to take a bunch of pictures of us all night... it was great! We got lots of girl talk in and it was just like old times again! Thanks for a wonderful time guys!:) Next time we should all play tennis together!

Easter

The 3 of us:)

Jackson and Mark

I think this is one of my favorite pictures of us 2- I love Jackson's expression!
Easter came a little early for us this year since Mark was going to Oregon and I was going to California with Jacks. So, we celebrated the Thursday before Easter and the Easter Bunny made a special trip just for Jackson with his Easter basket:). We had a lot of fun dying eggs and celebrating Jackson's 1st Easter together:).

3 Month Pics

We took Jackson to get his 3 month pictures done... as you can see, they came out adorable (at least we think so:))... and this is just some of them! We went in expecting to just get a couple of sheets of photos, but we went a little crazy. Next time we won't go as crazy, but oh well... I guess that's what happens with the first professional photo session with your first child!!

Sick

For the past 4 days or so Jackson and I have been sick. I thought that we both got past the worst of it on Saturday, but it turns out that we instead took a turn for the worst that night. I lost my voice completely on Saturday night and still don't have it back. Jackson looks at me confused when either no sound comes out when I attempt to talk to him or some screechy, scary sound comes out! The last couple of nights I slept on the couch for a couple of hours during my coughing attacks so I wouldn't wake up Jackson or Mark (Jackson is still in our room...). Poor little Jackson has a stuffy nose and an occasional cough. And now Mark is starting to get sick and lose his voice too (not the greatest thing for a teacher!) UGH. Hopefully we will be completely over it by Friday since Jackson and I are flying to California to see my family and Mark is flying to Oregon!

It's a MIRACLE!!

I know it's been awhile since I have posted, BUT the major events that have happened over the last couple of days may have me posting more often!! Anyone who has been over at nighttime knows that I always go into our room lay down next to Jackson and nurse him to sleep... then hold my breath as I pick him up and put him in the bassinet by our bed. Well 2 nights ago I was doing this and it had been 30 minutes; however, Jackson wasn't even close to falling asleep and kept looking up at me and talking away. Out of frustration, I decided to forget about it and try again later. Now, normally I would unswaddle him and take him back out to the family room with me. However, this time I had some chores I wanted to do, SO I put a pacifier in his mouth, placed him in his bassinet and fully expected to be back in 5 minutes when he started crying. However, as I was doing the dishes, waiting for the cry... 5 minutes went by, 10 minutes, and finally 30 minutes! I ALMOST went in to check to make sure he was still alive at 10 minutes (since this has NEVER happened- but I resisted the urge and lo and behold he FELL ASLEEP ON HIS OWN!!). In our house this qualifies as a miracle!! The next day I tried to do it at nap time (nap times have basically been non existent- just cat naps in MY arms (every time I would go to put him down, he would wake up crying in 5 minutes), but it didn't work. Well today instead of just laying him down- I swaddled him like we do at nighttime, turned on our air purifier, put his pacifier in, held and rocked him for a couple of minutes, put him down fully awake and he again fell asleep on his own! He took 2 naps today- one in the morning for an hour and a half and a second one in the afternoon for 3 hours!! I do give some credit to the book "The Baby Whisperer," which I loved the best out of all the books I read (we didn't want to lay him down and let him cry it out... and this is kind of the middle of the road type of book). Anyway, we are very, very excited to say the least and if you have read this far into my babbling excitement on Jackson's sleep habits I'm impressed;). I plan on doing a catch up blog later, but I was so thrilled at Jackson falling asleep I had to do a post now:)!!
